Peer Consultation Group for mental health providers in Cypress, TX

Welcome!

Black Cat Counseling Etc. (aka Kati, aka me) will be hosting a monthly (hopefully) peer consultation group located at:
The Office Evolution Floor
14150 Huffmeister Rd Suite 200
Cypress, TX 77429

I’ve been in solo practice all by myself (singing in my head) for two years. I had a good friend tell me before I made the jump from group practice to solo-dolo could be lonely and she suggested joining a peer group. Now, I’m an introvert at heart (although I tend to give the impression that I’m an extravert) and I didn’t think that I would be lonely and wouldn’t need it and kept it moving.

I was wrong. Solo practice can be lonely. Making all the decisions, not having anyone to bounce ideas off of or really quickly workshop a case that when I was working in group practice was a common occurrence. I’m creating this group to create a peer consultation group of other therapists in the area who want to be in community.

This will be a time and space where any mental health provider of any kind is welcome (LPC-A, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMFT-Associate, PhD, PsyD) to join and hang out, discuss cases, share resources, network with each other, and maybe chat about business if we feel like it. This is going to be a really informal gathering, so show up casually and as yourself.

I will be providing coffee and bagels with different spreads. If you’d like tea or something else, or have any special dietary restrictions, please email me at katiovermierlcsw@gmail.com at least 24 hours before attending so I can plan accordingly.

I’m also going to try and have something special for any first time attendees as a thank you for joining us. I’m hoping to make this experience helpful and worth everyone’s time.

Due to the reserved room only seating up to 10 people, please register below so I can keep the count to 10 people and reserve your spot. If there are consistently over 10 people joining us each week, I will reconsider reserving a bigger room, and I also like keeping things small and intimate. I think this makes it easier to really get to know and trust each other.

New meeting dates will be established and added as the year goes along.

If you have any questions or concerns, let me know!

Peer Consultation Group Highlights

  • Several different bagels, one on a plate with some kind of smear on it and a clear cup of black coffee

    Coffee and Bagels

You will be provided complimentary coffee, bagels, and things to go on the bagels.

  • Group of diverse people sitting around a wooden table, engaging in a discussion with papers and markers, in a well-lit room with plants and windows

    Case Consultation

Everyone will get a chance to bring a case to the group that they either want to process or to get direct feedback from other licensed clinicians.

  • Packets of seeds with designs on the packets and a yellow flower

    First Timer Gift

On everyone’s first time attending the peer consultation, as a genuine thank you for being part of the community we are trying to create, I’m going to give you some small tokens of appreciation.

  • An illuminated light bulb with coil visible standing upright on top of an old looking leather bound book

    Small, Intimate Group

These groups are currently limited to only 10 people so that we can truly get to know one another (aka networking), what we are about, and to provide real support to one another. I believe that smaller groups are the best way to accomplish that.
